Instead, however, these precision oysters were fit with an in-house Rolex caliber, and for that reason primarily they landed within the Rolex catalog. This is a history I found myself diving into while contemplating my most recent watch purchase. Three innovations propelled Rolex to become arguably the most famous Swiss watchmaker and one of the most famous luxury brands in the world: the automatic winding rotor (“Perpetual”), the Oyster and Jubilee bracelets, and, arguably the most significant, the “Oyster” water-resistant case.
